Do you want to connect to your Jewish heritage and practice Judaism’s values, while supporting people in need and giving back to the community? By putting the ‘mitzvah’ into Bar and Bat Mitzvah and Jewish life, the Educational Alliance provides the opportunity to make a difference and literally change lives, including your own.
Do Chesed. Judaism teaches that Acts of Loving-Kindness are one of three pillars on which the entire world stands. Start supporting the world today by making volunteering a part of your life.
Give Tzedaka. Tzedaka is more than charity - it is about bringing justice and righteousness into the world. By giving a portion of your gifts to programs that support the needy, or asking others to make donations in your honor, you realize Judaism’s vision for social justice.
Deepen Your Jewish Journey. Volunteering at the Educational Alliance allows you to embrace your Jewish identity. Spending time on the Lower East Side - a neighborhood steeped in Jewish history and activism – while doing Chesed will give meaning to becoming a bar/bat mitzvah.
Feed the Hungry. Serve and socialize with guests at one of Project ORE’s kosher lunches, Shabbats or holiday programs.
Visit a senior and connect over shared interests, neighborhood stories or Jewish study (we’ll provide text).
Create your own – our volunteer department will work with you to develop a meaningful volunteer project based on your interests.
