Save Our After-School Programs

Bright Futures 2010

UPDATEWhen our after-school programs were threatened with closure due to government budget cuts, we launched the Bright Futures 2010 campaign to save them.  And we have great news - thanks to the amazing $319,000 you contributed and the partial restoration of government funds, our youth programs will remain open and we won't have turn away any of the 1,800 kids who depend on us!

Our programs for youth help 1,800 of some of New York City's poorest kids become college kids, honor roll kids, theater and karate kids

Poverty rates in our schools exceed 80%.  More than half the children in our programs live in housing projects, homeless shelters, and overcrowded tenements.  But our programs have a big impact: in a neighborhood where 40% of adults lack a high school diploma, 100% of the high school seniors in our College Prep Program have graduated from high school and been accepted to college.

Special thanks to Kayla Frost, Delores Morales, and Kazuki Mishima

When school opens in September, our after-school programs will, too.  But we still need your support to make them the high-quality programs that change kids' lives.  Make a general donation to our Bright Futures Campaign for Kids:

Our programs for youth give 1,300 children a safe place to go after school, experiences in the arts and sports that their schools cannot provide, and relationships with adults who help them believe they can accomplish anything they put their minds to.  We foster self-sufficiency in families--parents whose children are supervised after school can work instead of staying home and relying on government assistance.  Thank you for supporting these important programs!
