BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY for beginners
Absolute beginners and people who took photography before but need a refresher course start developing film and working in the darkroom by the second class. Acquire a thorough knowledge of the camera’s controls, principles of exposure, film developing and printing.  The majority of class time is devoted to printing photographs in the darkroom. 35mm film camera required.

Build on the skills learned in basic photography, improving printing skills and consider developing a personal style or focus.

THE ART OF BLACK AND WHITE PRINTING: Adv. Photography  

Learn to perfect your darkroom skills to make museum-quality prints. Individuals are encouraged to develop a personal style using the variety of options within the darkroom. The class focuses on printing techniques, interpretation and presentation.

PIN HOLE PHOTOGRAPHY  
Often handmade a pin hole camera produce poetic or surreal images. The students in this workshop will learn to make simple pinhole cameras, calculate proper exposure, and produce paper negatives and prints in the darkroom.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY
What makes a portrait interesting? How can you make your portraits portray more than just the physical presence of the person.  This class will explore the topic from both technical and historical perspectives.  Students will explore taking portraits of people in their own environment and in a studio setting.  Students will shoot primarily outside of the class, there will be in class demos and shooting opportunities.  Class time will be spent sharing and discussing students photographs.  Students may shoot in any format (analog or digital).

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY and the Urban Landscape
Photographing the streets of New York is an art and a passion.  What makes one photo a snapshot and another an icon? You will examine ways artist have photographed the City followed by shooting assignments of different subjects or locales.  Students will be encouraged to develop their won perspective on the city as subject matter.  Class meeting will be sharing and discussing your photographs.  Students may shoot in any format (analog or digital).

PHOTOSHOP / Digital Art
Learn Photoshop! This course introduces you to Photoshop and the world of digital art. Students learn to create, edit, import, plan and modify images that canbe used for a variety of applications. Space is limited to 5 students.
