Boys & Girls Club at P.S. 188/The Island School
A Fun-Filled Learning Experience for Students in Grades K-5
Kids in our P.S. 188 After School Program participate in a wide range of hands-on activities every week, including computers/technology, animation/claymation, filmmaking, science, comic book making, dance, martial arts, gymnastics, drama, scultping, cooking and fashion club.
In addition, our devoted staff provide tutoring and homework help daily. Students also receive a substantial snack every afternoon.
The program is known for its "ICE clusters," where Social Studies lessons are infused with the arts. Co-taught by a 3rd - 5th grade classroom teacher and a teaching artist (like a professional dancer, singer, actor), these activities enhance students' interest and knowledge of social studies, while meeting the Department of Education's social studies standards.
The After School Program is free to all P.S. 188 participants, thanks to funding from The Educational Alliance, Boys & Girls Club,The After School Corporation, and P.S. 188.
