Early Head Start

Did you know: The Educational Alliance was chosen to run one of the country's first Early Head Start programs in 1995?

We provide comprehensive services to infants and toddlers age birth to 3 years including education, health, nutrition, and family support. We offer full inclusion for infants and toddlers with special needs in a safe and nurturing environment. We work in partnership with families to individualize learning experiences for each child through responsive care giving and play based education. Children are encouraged and supported as they explore and investigate materials and the environment in order to learn about the world around them. Through extended learning in the domains of cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development, infants and toddlers gain skills and knowledge necessary for future academic success. We ensure children’s healthy growth and positive learning by promoting individual and group experiences in a safe environment, building secure and nurturing relationships, and working in partnership with families and the community.

We also offer home-based services for infants/toddlers and their families, and prenatal services for expectant families.

Early Head Start Home-Based Program

The Educational Alliance Early Head Start Home-Based Program provides support and services to infants, toddlers, and their families through home visits and group activities. Our program is unique because it offers eligible families the opportunity to get quality Early Head Start services in their own homes.

Your child’s development is our main focus
Every week, a teacher will come to your home and provide an activity for you and your child to enjoy together. You and your teacher will work as a team to best support your child’s development and goals.

These educational activities will be customized to your child’s needs and promote his/her cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills during home visits and group activities.

Group socialization

Twice a month, you and your child will meet and learn with other Early Head Start parents and their children. The group activity takes place twice a month in an infant/toddler play room at our Early Head Start Center at 197 East Broadway where a nutritious snack will also be served.

This program is free for income-eligible families in Lower Manhattan.
