Support Our Older Adult Programs
The Educational Alliance is committed to helping older adults lead full lives. We strive to enhance the quality of life for active, recently retired older adults, and we work to ensure that the frail elderly in our community can live as independently as possible with the utmost dignity. We serve 3,000 seniors each year.
Our Older Adult programs span Downtown Manhattan. We have four senior centers, two Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs) where older adults receive services so they can live in their homes for as long as possible, and two residences for low-income seniors. The Optimal Life and Health Club (OLAH), our innovative health and wellness program, challenges older adults of all levels of fitness and mobility.
Our services include crisis intervention, mental health and case management services; nursing services; subsidized housing; multicultural holiday celebrations and weekly Oneg Shabbats; dance, tai chi, and yoga classes; daily meals; art and computer classes; volunteer opportunities; group social activities and outings to plays, parks, cultural events, and historic sites.
Project ORE is a unique program serving 250 homeless, elderly, and isolated Jewish adults. We provide two kosher meals each day and support from licensed clinical social workers, and we offer a cultural curriculum of classes in art, current events, and programs on health and wellness. Perhaps most important are the intangible things we provide - dignity, compassion, and a sense of community.
