Support Our Health & Wellness Programs
The Educational Alliance makes health and wellness a part of all our programs. Fitness, recreation, and good nutrition are not only essential elements for a healthy life; they are also valuable tools for strengthening families, building communities, and empowering individuals.
People who exercise and eat a healthy diet have lower risk for heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and some kinds of cancer. Exercise alleviates depression, strengthens bones, and helps with weight control. It improves cognition, memory, and balance for seniors and builds self-esteem in kids. We make sure that people of every age and ability have access to health and wellness programs.
Our health and wellness activities come in many different forms in response to the needs of our clients. We have Daddy & Me cooking and swimming for our young ones and their fathers; OLAH, our innovative and comprehensive wellness program for seniors; full-service fitness and aquatics at the 14th Street Y; tumbling for babies; and sports leagues, yoga, basketball, karate, and dance for people of all ages.
