BEGINNING DRAWING for absolute beginners
This class is an introduction to drawing for adults wanting to learn the basics. Explore the many versatile ways of pencil and charcoal to represent and express your ideas. You will learn how to draw from observation using line, gesture, shape, value and texture to record and interpret reality. Develop skills to draw objects in proportion and in perspective.

Drawing and Watercolor at The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens (New Class)
Open to all skill levels, this course meets exclusively at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens where students will have the opportunity to work from observation and capture the beauty of the gardens in full bloom. You may choose to work in any dry media (pencil, charcoal, pastel) or watercolor. The class will explore a different section of the gardens each week, and will focus both on landscape vistas and close up botanical studies. In case of rain, students will be able to work in the shelter of the amazing indoor atriums, from tropical rainforest to desert climates. The instructor will work alongside the students, providing demonstrations of techniques in all media.

CARTOONING - Drawing for graphic novels
Discover and learn the elements of a successful comic book and graphic novel narration. This course focuses on producing comics, and encouraging beginning cartoonists. Whether your desire is to create and draw short stories, novel-length stories, newspaper comics, super hero comics, Manga, or something not yet seen by anyone, this is the class that will help you accomplish just that. Explore a variety of techniques such as penciling, inking, shading, perspective, character design, anatomy and effective story structure.

DRAWING in Central Park
Drawing from life makes you learn to visually edit, focus, and draw quickly and more confidently. This class utilizes the richness of Central Park as subject matter, including people, architecture, nature studies and vistas.

DRAWING at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Drawing inspiration from sculpture and old masters in museums is a time honored tradition. Degas, Ingres, Delacroix and Picasso in the Louvre. The Metropolitan Museum is an outstanding resource for inspiration and learning. We will draw from masterpieces of Roman, Medieval, 19th century and American sculpture. We will seek out less traffic galleries to avoid people looking over your shoulder. A wonderful way to spend Friday mornings!

FIGURE DRAWING
The course is designed as an introduction to basic drawing techniques and drawing the nude model. Instructor will provide fundamental techniques to train the eye how to draw what you see. Basic drawing skills will be taught using line, shading, proportions, action line and contrapposto. Primarily working in pencil and charcoal on newsprint and drawing paper. For beginners and experienced artists.

PORTRAIT DRAWING
An excellent class to learn the fundamentals of anatomy, proportion, line and value to capture the sitter’s features and personality. Develop your techniques so you can draw what you see using measurement, contour and gesture drawing. (model fee included)
