Educational Alliance Preschool: Seeds and Sprouts
The Educational Alliance is launching, Seeds & Sprouts, a program for new mothers and fathers, seasoned parents, and beloved caregivers!
Seeds & Sprouts is a weekly gathering for families with young children to establish connections and become involved in a supportive, nurturing community. Seeds engages parents with children ages 0 – 12 months and Sprouts engages parents or caregivers with children ages 12-18 months. All classes are facilitated by an early childhood professional in our lovely newly renovated classrooms.
Babies and toddlers in Seeds and Sprouts are engaged through developmentally approved materials in an active learning environment. Children are encouraged to explore each of their senses in play-areas designed to maximize socialization and growth.
Seeds and Sprouts offers a safe forum for asking questions, sharing concerns and bonding over the joys and challenges of new parenthood. As the children play, parents and care-givers have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation and a chance to seek comfort and support as they embark upon the exciting journey of raising a young child.
Sessions will be lead by Pat Kornfeld. Pat has been working with parents and their children for many years. She worked with individual families as well as Family Child Care Providers when she worked for Westchester Jewish Community Services in their Parent-Child Home Program. In addition, Pat has been part of The Parenting Center at the Educational Alliance since 2008. Serving as Facilitator for several New Parents Groups, Dad's Groups and Play-date drop-in groups, Pat is presently the educator of the Turning Two's Program. While Pat's degree is in Psychology, it was her own experience as a new mom facing the challenges as well as the joy that really became the catalyst for this career. Bringing her then 3 week old daughter to a Mother-Child Center and feeling bolstered and supported by this new group drove home the understanding of the need of community while raising a family. That baby is now 34 and while so much has changed in the years since Pat's 3 daughters were growing up, the value of community remains constant.
The Seeds and Sprouts program will start in in our Spring semester! Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to request an application, or contact Susan Hua at 646-395-4250.
