Residential Counselor (on-call)Department: Per Diem
The Educational Alliance, a 501 (3) (c) nonprofit located in lower Manhattan, seeks an experienced, dedicated and dynamic Substance Abuse Residential Counselor to monitor residents ADLs, participate in treatment planning and implementation, conduct group and individual counseling sessions with residents within residential therapeutic communities for mandated and non-mandated adults struggling with chemical dependencies.
The Residential Counselor will also supervise and assist residents with shopping, cooking, clean-up chores and other daily living activities; participate in crisis interventions; monitor day program attendance; monitor and coordinate residents’ attendance at medical, dental and psychiatric appointments and escort clients, if necessary; provide recreational activities, including trips; maintain client records; dispense tokens and lunch money to residents as needed; participate in house meetings and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. CASAC-T strongly preferred. One (1) year of related work experience in a Therapeutic Community setting preferred. Degree in a related field (social work/psychology) a definite plus. Weekend & evening availability required. This is a per-diem position.
