Letter from the Director

Don’t’ let another summer pass without getting your hands dirty.  Summer is a wonderful time to take an art class.   With longer days we all have more energy and if you take an evening class you still get home at dusk.  Summer is for fun and exploring new things.  At The Alliance you don’t have to leave the city to have a fulfilling summer.

The art studio may be the one place, for a few hours per week, to enrich and renew your spirit, energy and mind.  Life in New York can be very stressful; in the Art School we create a place for you to leave behind your work and daily life to discover and explore your creative side.  (Our studios are air-conditioned)

Many of our students took an art class in high school or college and want to put some creativity back in their lives. Absolute beginners find encouragement and direction in a welcoming community. Experienced artists often come to refresh their skills or learn a new medium.

The Art School is an active community art center attracting people from all over the city to its great studios, excellent teachers and friendly environment.  Our aim is to teach the techniques in drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.

I look forward to seeing you in the studios,
                                        Walter O’Neill, Director
