"We the People"
Educational Alliance's Initiative Against Hate
Following the 2016 presidential election, there has been an increase in hate speech and hate crimes in New York City targeting religious, racial, and ethnic minorities. We are doubling down on our work to ensure that every person, regardless of their color, language, or creed will be treated with respect.
To that end, we are proud to announce our "We the People" initiative, promoting inclusiveness and protection from the hateful and divisive rhetoric targeted at vulnerable populations, including immigrants, Muslims, Jews and LGBTQ+ youth served by EA.
Below you will find a list of community resources organized by Educational Alliance along with ways that you can get involved. The Lower East Side and East Village remain a place where all people are welcome and we're here to ensure it stays that way.
Community Partner Program
We invite businesses in the Lower East Side and East Village to join our movement as Community Partners. Our partners across the city have our "Everyone is Welcome" graphic (pictured above) displayed in their storefront, signifying that they stand with us and that their establishment is a place where all are welcome. If you are interested in becoming a community partner, please reach out to Director of Communications Jake Link at JLink@Edalliance.org.
